Tea - How to Make a Proper Cup of Tea

Tea. Every self-respecting Anglophile or Britophile needs to know all about tea. So I've written a guest post at that wonderful Britophile blog Smitten by Britain, where I'll be The Resident Tea Snob. Hop on over and read my How to Make a Proper Cup of Tea. Of course, once you have that down, you'll want to whip up a batch of Scones to have with your tea.

Lovely post Jean - you didn't wade into the finer points about whether it's more "proper" to add milk before or after the tea has been poured :D Funny you should write this today - I was just chatting about clotted cream and scones just now with Melissa @ ChinDeep.com

Thank you, Charles. Yes, I'll be writing about such finer points in upcoming posts. :D This first one was just about getting the tea made!

Jean I am as much a coffee snob as you are a tea snob. I like brewing my own coffee so I can warm the cup, freshly grind the coffee and brew a good strong flavor (not burnt).

Today I was just a bit off....apparently not paying attention as I conversed with my sister on the phone. As I sipped my 'carefully' brewed coffee the thought that came to me was insipid-- What had I done to create such an insipid cup of coffee this morning. (it made me laugh to see you refer to most tea making as insipid.

As I retraced my steps it finally dawned on me that I did everything exactly as I was supposed to...but somehow failed to grind fresh coffee. I had turned the coffee maker on without adding fresh grounds! Yuck!

Thanks for your lesson on how to make a proper cup of English tea. By the way, I love the Lake District!

Thanks, Susan! [Note to readers: Susan has a lovely blog at http://lightartedliving.blogspot.com/ you should check out!] I can see where a coffee lover would be a coffee snob. And I'm sure few coffee snobs would be as humble as you are in admitting to your coffee blunder this morning! :D
